BASF introduces five new high-performance products from the Tinuvin® DW (N) series for water-based systems, while standing out with Tinuvin® 249, which enables cost-effective production of durable and fade-resistant paints. BASF is introducing five new light stabilizers from the Tinuvin® DW (N) series developed for wood and metal paints. BASF will also address growing demand for high-performance light stabilizers used in the formulation of durable coatings for outdoor applications with its specialty product Tinuvin® 249.

New Light Stabilizers from the Tinuvin DW (N) Series

BASF has launched five Tinuvin products: Tinuvin 123-DW (N), Tinuvin 400-DW (N), Tinuvin 477-DW (N), Tinuvin 9945-DW (N) and Tinuvin 5333-DW (N). The Tinuvin series represents a new generation of liquid light stabilizers responding to growing demand in the potentially critical raw material content area. The Tinuvin series was developed for water-based systems. The products stand out for not containing methylisothiazolinone (MIT), and do not require the EUH 208 label used as a warning against allergic reactions. For this reason, Tinuvin series products are notable as sustainable and environmentally compatible products.

Tinuvin 249

The standout product in the Tinuvin series is Tinuvin 249, a non-basic light stabilizer (HALS). Tinuvin 249 is compatible with a wide range of paint systems and enables the production of coatings with high color fastness and water resistance. Notable for its cost-effectiveness, Tinuvin 249 also saves time thanks to its low viscosity, which allows easy mixing in paints and reduces waste levels. With no effect on color, Tinuvin 249 is also suitable for the production of high-quality transparent varnishes. Ulf Neidlein, Head of Resins and Additives BASF EMEA, commented on the Tinuvin series: "In the field of light stabilizers, trends such as cost-effectiveness, enhanced performance and sustainability are at the forefront. With our new Tinuvin products, we are providing our customers with innovative solutions that meet these important demands."
