ADPCosmetics addresses key challenges in sun protection: achieving high SPF, broad-spectrum coverage and photostability, through two lines of non-nanometric mineral filters. ADParticles exclusively employs a patented dry dispersion method, which enables the dispersion and anchoring of particles of varying sizes. SPF enhancement in the final formulation is achieved through a new structure that optimizes light access to smaller particles in the filter. The filters can be incorporated into sun care formulations as well as colour cosmetics for protection thanks to their innovative technology. In sun care, ADPCosmetics presents Enhance U-T and Enhance U-S, two filters based on titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, designed to deliver high SPF values and comparable broad-spectrum protection in natural formulations. The filters carry ECOCERT certification. For formulations that do not require natural labels, Effective U-T is presented as a complementary filter, designed to enhance UVA coverage. In colour cosmetics with protection, ADParticles/ADPCosmetics presents three filters with different undertones, achieved through the incorporation of iron oxides into the structure. Enhance U-T-Light, Enhance U-T-Medium and Enhance U-T-Warm are thus the filters proposed for BB creams or CC creams, where colour is combined with sun protection. These filters carry Ecocert certifications. Furthermore, an alternative undertone, Enhance U-T-exclusive, can be manufactured upon request. The following table shows the main characteristics of mineral, non-nanometric and photostable Enhance U and Effective U filters:

Effective U-T

Effective U-T is a non-nanometric inorganic composite of TiO2 and SiO2 suitable for use as a mineral filter. Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) was used to determine that the particle-size distribution is not in the nanometer range (1-100 nm).

Effective U-T provides a substantial level of UVA and UVB protection as demonstrated by the UVA/UVB ratio in a typical spectrum. A formula containing 7.5% filter (w/w) showed the following UV absorption spectrum: SPF: 9.0, UVA PF: 6.6, UVA/UVB ratio: 0.84 and critical wavelength: 383 nm (Fig. 2).

The recommended concentration range for this filter is 5-12% w/w. SPF and UVA PF values achieved at these concentrations are shown in Fig. 3 (left). Additionally, the Effective U-T filter demonstrates good photostability. SPF variation was assessed following UV light irradiation of the sample using a solar simulator equipped with a specific UVA-UVB filter.
