Exports to North African Countries Reach $13 Billion

Turkey's exports to North African countries increased by 5.1% year-on-year in 2021 to reach USD 13.148 billion. Turkey's exports in 2022 rose by 12.9% compared to the previous year, reaching USD 254.210 billion. In 2022, Turkey exported USD 2.968 billion to Morocco, USD 1.914 billion to Algeria, USD 1.505 billion to Tunisia, USD 2.408 billion to Libya, USD 3.928 billion to Egypt and USD 423 million to Sudan, totaling over USD 13 billion in exports to North African countries. Last month, exports reached USD 348.9 million to Egypt, USD 212.9 million to Morocco, USD 183 million to Algeria, USD 212.3 million to Libya and USD 47.9 million to Sudan.

Leading export sectors

Last year, the chemicals and chemical products sector led exports to Algeria with a 29.5% increase and USD 330.1 million, the steel sector to Morocco with a 21.1% increase and USD 633.4 million, the chemicals and chemical products sector to Egypt with a 23% increase and USD 806.2 million, the steel sector to Tunisia with a 6.5% increase and USD 250.4 million, the cereals, pulses and oilseeds sector to Libya with a 45.6% increase and USD 365.1 million, and the cereals, pulses and oilseeds sector to Sudan with a 110.7% increase and USD 126.1 million. Istanbul was the province with the highest exports to North African countries last year. Exports from Istanbul reached USD 991 million to Algeria, USD 1.250 billion to Morocco, USD 1.721 billion to Egypt, USD 698.9 million to Tunisia, USD 1.305 billion to Libya and USD 153.4 million to Sudan.   Source
